From May 1, commercial and chotu cylinder prices have gone up across the country. Therefore, opposition leaders have attacked the government sharply over rising LPG costs. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also targeted the government. He said the cylinder does not become costly alone. Instead, roti and thali become costly. He added that only those who buy food understand this pain. However, he said others eat at someone else’s place. Then, he said some even steal from another person’s plate.
Akhilesh Questions BJP Over ₹7 Relief After Heavy Hike
Akhilesh Yadav said the government should have raised cylinder prices directly by ₹1,000. Then, he asked whom BJP wants to favour by reducing ₹7 from ₹1,000. Moreover, he questioned BJP over inflation, unemployment, joblessness, and slowdown. He asked when BJP would bring a condemnation motion on these issues.
Meanwhile, Congress also attacked the government through a post on social media platform X. Congress said “Mehangai Man Modi” has cracked the whip again. It added that the commercial cylinder has become costlier by ₹993 today. Then, Congress accused Modi of raising commercial cylinder prices repeatedly during the past four months.
Congress listed the figures month by month. It said prices rose by ₹111 in January. After that, rates increased by ₹50 on February 1. Then, prices went up by ₹31 on March 1. Moreover, rates climbed by ₹115 on March 7. Later, prices increased by ₹218 on April 1. Finally, rates rose by ₹993 on May 1.
Congress said cylinder prices have increased by ₹1,518 this year. Then, it mocked the government and said only four months have passed. However, eight months still remain in the year. Congress added that Modi’s recovery drive continues. It said the Modi government only knows how to collect money.
Now, Congress also targeted the chotu cylinder price hike. It said the government first distributed cylinders through Aadhaar cards. Then, it increased their prices. Congress called the move clever. From today, 19 kg commercial cylinders cost ₹993 more nationwide. Therefore, Delhi’s 19 kg commercial cylinder now costs ₹3,071.50. Meanwhile, 5 kg chotu cylinder prices have also risen by ₹261.
