Following the digital signing of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, Pakistan has stepped forward claiming mediation recognition.
US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement digitally, marking a key diplomatic development.
Soon after, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued his first public reaction on the deal.
Sharif used social media platform X to present Pakistan’s role in the agreement.
He described the pact as the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” and said he approved it as a mediator.
He also stated that both countries signed the agreement at the highest leadership level.
Sharif Credits Global Leaders and Calls Deal Historic
Furthermore, Sharif said the agreement reflects strong intent from both sides to resolve disputes through dialogue.
He claimed the deal will activate immediately after signing.
According to him, Iran will reopen the Hormuz Strait as a first step.
Simultaneously, he said the United States will lift its maritime blockade.
Additionally, Sharif praised US President Donald Trump for his diplomatic persistence.
He also thanked the US negotiation team, including JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner.
Moreover, he acknowledged Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
He appreciated Iran’s negotiation team, naming Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi, and Eskandar Momeni.
Sharif highlighted their patience and continuous efforts in making the agreement possible.
Regional Players and Military Role Highlighted
Meanwhile, Sharif also credited Qatar’s leadership for constructive efforts in facilitating progress.
He extended appreciation to Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt for their regional support.
Importantly, he mentioned Field Marshal Asim Munir’s significant contribution to the breakthrough.
According to Sharif, Munir played a crucial role in achieving peace and regional stability.
He expressed hope that the agreement would strengthen mutual respect and understanding.
Finally, he said the deal could lay a foundation for prosperity across the region.
