Fuel Panic Spreads As Pumps Set Limits And Tankers Miss Schedules

Petrol-diesel worries have grown across states as delayed tankers, viral rumours, and panic buying create temporary pressure at pumps.

Petrol and diesel concerns have increased across many states. In Uttarakhand and some other regions, tankers did not reach certain pumps on time. After that, many pump owners fixed fuel limits due to pressure. At some places, two-wheelers receive petrol worth only ₹500. Meanwhile, car owners face a limit of ₹2,000 at certain pumps.

Why The Pressure Is Rising

Middle East tensions and oil supply problems have started affecting many parts of India. However, the government and oil companies keep saying India has no major petrol-diesel shortage. Still, viral social media messages and rumours have created fear among people. As a result, many customers are filling more fuel than they need.

Long queues have appeared in many cities. Due to sudden demand, some petrol pumps are running out of stock quickly. Therefore, local shortages are appearing in places where supply timing already faced stress.

Uttarakhand Faces Bigger Trouble

Uttarakhand has reported more pressure than many other areas. Reports say several small pumps in Dehradun and Haldwani had only one day’s stock left. Some locations also displayed “no stock” boards. Pump owners said tanker supply has faced delays. Therefore, they introduced limits so more customers could receive fuel.

Social Media Fuels Panic

Rumours on social media have increased fear more than the supply issue itself. WhatsApp, Facebook, and X have seen viral posts about petrol running out. Many posts also warned about a large fuel crisis. Consequently, people started storing petrol in bottles and drums at some places.

This behaviour has created shortage-like conditions in certain areas. However, oil companies and the government have repeatedly said enough stock exists in the country. They have also urged people to avoid panic buying.

Travel Plans Need Extra Care

People planning long journeys should stay cautious for now. Many cities are seeing long queues at petrol pumps. Moreover, some places are giving fuel in limited quantities. So, travellers should check petrol pumps along their route before leaving. They should also avoid waiting until their vehicle tank becomes almost empty.

Market Sentiment Sees Support

Amid market volatility, sentiment showed some stability. GIFT Nifty rose by 130 points. Asian markets also offered support during this movement. This market update came alongside growing fuel-related concerns.

Is There A Major Crisis?

At present, India does not face a national-level petrol-diesel crisis. The real problem comes from panic buying driven by fear. The government says refineries and supply systems are working normally. However, temporary trouble may grow if people keep buying excess fuel. For now, people should avoid rumours and buy petrol-diesel only as needed.
