Shubhendu Cabinet’s Big Bengal Push: ₹3,000 For Women, Free Bus Rides, And Pay Panel

Bengal’s second cabinet meeting cleared five major decisions, including Annapurna assistance, free bus travel for women, and a new pay commission.

West Bengal’s Shubhendu government cleared five important decisions in its second cabinet meeting. The decisions include ₹3,000 monthly support for women. Moreover, the cabinet approved free bus travel for them. It also cleared the formation of the seventh state pay commission. Therefore, the meeting focused on welfare, employees, and key administrative changes.

Agnimitra Paul Shares Government Decisions

After the cabinet meeting, Women and Child Welfare Minister Agnimitra Paul briefed the press. She explained the government’s latest decisions during the briefing. Paul said the Bengal government approved the Annapurna scheme. Under this scheme, women will receive ₹3,000 monthly assistance in their accounts from June 1. Additionally, the government decided to offer free travel for women in government buses from June 1.

Annapurna Scheme Benefit Details

Women who already receive benefits under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme will automatically get Annapurna Bhandar benefits. Meanwhile, Agnimitra Paul said the government will soon open a portal for others. People who have not received this benefit can apply through that portal. As a result, the application process will move through the new online system.

Seventh State Pay Commission Approved

Agnimitra Paul also said the government approved the seventh state pay commission. The approval covers government employees, affiliated statutory bodies, and educational institutions. Consequently, state government employees will benefit from this decision. Besides this, the cabinet decided to stop government assistance given to groups through religious classification.

First Cabinet Meeting Also Took Key Calls

The Bengal cabinet had taken several important decisions in its first meeting too. The first decision focused on implementing Ayushman Bharat. Along with that, the cabinet allowed IPS and IAS officers to attend central training. It also decided to implement the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in Bengal.

BSF Land Transfer And BJP Workers’ Families

The first cabinet also approved land transfer to the Border Security Force, or BSF, within 45 days. In addition, the government decided to take responsibility for families of 321 BJP workers. These workers lost their lives in Bengal. Therefore, both cabinet meetings placed major policy and welfare moves before the state.
