The government’s steps to handle the oil crisis have shown progress. Over the last two weeks, 1.25 lakh new PNG connections appeared. In addition, 5600 LPG customers transitioned to PNG within three days.
Ensuring Adequate LPG Supply
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry’s Joint Secretary, Sujata Sharma, reassured citizens about the government’s efforts to ensure LPG availability. She emphasized the government’s continuous work at all levels. The government urges the public to avoid rumors and trust only official information.
Middle East Conflict Increases Concerns, But No LPG Shortage Reported
Sujata Sharma acknowledged the challenge posed by the Middle East conflict. However, she confirmed that no LPG distribution shortages occurred. As of the previous day, LPG online bookings reached 56 lakh, and 55 lakh cylinders were supplied, ensuring normal distribution.
Tackling Black-Marketing and Hoarding
The government takes action to prevent black-marketing and hoarding. Sujata Sharma explained that the Ministry wrote to state governments, urging them to take necessary actions against violations. State governments have set up control rooms in 31 states and Union Territories. Moreover, 25 states established district-level monitoring committees.
15 States Issue Kerosene Allocation Orders
Sujata Sharma reported that 15 states and Union Territories issued additional kerosene allocation orders. This action intends to reduce panic booking. On the previous day, about 57,000 refills were booked. She added that crude oil production and refinery operations remain normal. No oil shortages have been reported at retail pumps, and CNG supply for transportation continues without cuts.
