Jharkhand : A Jharkhand family arranged Rs 8 lakh to hire a charter aircraft for urgent medical transfer. However, the air ambulance crashed, killing all seven onboard.

Forty-one-year-old Sanjay, a severe burn patient, lost his life in the accident. His wife Archana and relative Dhruv also died in the crash.

Additionally, four crew members perished during the disaster.

Aircraft Crashed After Takeoff From Ranchi

The Beechcraft C90 belonged to Delhi-based charter operator Redbird Airways. On Monday, the aircraft departed Ranchi carrying patient, attendants, medical team, and pilots.

Shortly after takeoff, the plane went down in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. Consequently, every individual onboard died instantly.

Desperate Efforts to Arrange Treatment

Ajay, brother of the deceased, spoke to India Today about the family’s struggle. Initially, relatives even considered selling land and property for medical expenses.

Later, they secured loans and borrowed funds from friends and well-wishers. They required money for private hospital care in Delhi along with aircraft charges.

Meanwhile, mourners gathered at the Latehar residence to pay respects.

Fire at Hotel Led to Critical Burns

Last Monday, an electric short circuit at Sanjay’s modest hotel in Chandwa triggered a fire. During work, he sustained serious burns and became critically injured.

As sole breadwinner, he supported the household financially. However, his health deteriorated despite local treatment attempts.

Therefore, relatives decided to shift him to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for advanced care.

Along with Sanjay, his spouse Archana and kin Dhruv boarded the ill-fated flight.

Identities of All Seven Victims

Authorities identified Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat as pilot-in-command. Captain Savrajdeep Singh served as co-pilot. Officials confirmed Sanjay Kumar, aged 41, as patient onboard. Archana Devi and Dhuru Kumar travelled as attendants.

Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta joined as medical professional. Sachin Kumar Mishra worked as paramedic during the transfer.

Sadly, the crash claimed seven lives in total.
