SpiceJet flight SG-121 flying from Delhi to Leh returned after a technical snag on Saturday morning. During takeoff phase, crew noticed an engine issue and immediately informed Air Traffic Control.
At around 6:35 am, authorities declared a full emergency. Subsequently, pilot decided to prioritise safety and head back to Delhi airport.
Safe Landing on Runway 28
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737. A total of 155 passengers and crew members travelled onboard.
After turning back, the plane landed safely on Runway 28 at approximately 6:45 am. Officials ensured smooth handling throughout the process.
Fire and Medical Teams Kept on Standby
Meanwhile, airport authorities placed fire brigade units, ambulances, and medical staff on alert. Teams completed all precautionary arrangements before touchdown.
Following arrival, officials evacuated every passenger safely. Importantly, no injuries were reported.
Airline representatives confirmed that technicians grounded the aircraft for inspection. Additionally, staff arranged alternative flights for affected travellers.
Ranchi Air Ambulance Crash Earlier
Earlier, another aviation incident occurred in Jharkhand. An air ambulance carrying seven individuals from Ranchi to Delhi crashed in a forest area near Simaria in Chatra district on Monday.
An official stated that the aircraft departed Ranchi airport around 7:10 pm. Later, authorities lost contact around 7:30 pm.
Chatra Deputy Commissioner Kirtishree G told PTI-Bhasha that the plane went missing and crashed in Bariyatu Panchayat of Simaria.
Ranchi Devkamal Hospital CEO Anant Sinha explained that a patient arranged the air ambulance. He added that Sanjay Kumar, aged 41, from Chandwa in Latehar district, suffered 65 percent burns on February 16 and was receiving treatment.
