Baruipur Superintendent of Police confirmed Mondal’s death during the encounter. According to the officer, police took him for crime scene reconstruction.
The police team reached Suryapur with Mondal during the investigation process. Meanwhile, officers started recreating the crime location details. However, before the reconstruction began, Mondal allegedly grabbed a police officer’s weapon. Furthermore, he fired one round and attempted to escape.
Therefore, police responded immediately and fired during the confrontation. The injured accused later reached Baruipur hospital for treatment.
Doctors present there declared him dead after examination.
Police Took Accused For Investigation At 12:45 AM
According to the Bengal Police statement, investigators moved out around 12:45 AM on July 8. The investigating officer from Baruipur Police Station carried case number 1350/26. Moreover, the officer travelled with the investigation team and Mondal.
The team reached Suryapur to recreate the crime scene. However, the accused created a violent situation before the process started.
SIT Investigation Revealed Planned Crime Angle
The incident involved a 12-year-old girl from Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district. Her family alleged rape before her murder. The victim went missing on July 4 at around 6 PM. Subsequently, police found her body from a Baruipur pond the next day. Meanwhile, Shubhendu Government formed an SIT to investigate the case. The team later discovered important digital evidence during the probe.
These findings indicated that the crime might have followed a planned approach. Additionally, investigators examined mobile tower locations of three arrested accused.
According to a district police source, all three phones showed the same location. The location matched between 4:30 PM and 11 PM on July 4.
This timeline matched the estimated period of the alleged crime.
