Mohsin Naqvi’s Trophy Twist Returns? Women’s Asia Cup Final Faces New Controversy

After the men’s Asia Cup trophy dispute, Mohsin Naqvi’s presence at the women’s final may create another tense moment.

India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the men’s Asia Cup 2025 final. However, the Indian team has still not received the championship trophy. Now, nearly one year later, a similar situation could appear during the Women’s Asia Cup final. Mohsin Naqvi may attend the match scheduled for September 13.

Mohsin Naqvi may attend Dubai final

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final will take place on Sunday, September 13. The venue for the match will be Dubai International Stadium. However, the final teams are not confirmed yet. India and Sri Lanka have already secured semifinal spots, while two more teams are yet to qualify.

According to Pakistani channel Geo Super, Mohsin Naqvi will remain present during the final. Naqvi currently serves as the Asian Cricket Council president. Additionally, he has received the role of chief guest for the Asia Cup final. His presence has created expectations of another trophy-related controversy.

Previous men’s Asia Cup controversy returns

On September 28, 2025, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the men’s Asia Cup final. After the victory, Team India refused to collect the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. The situation became controversial when Naqvi carried the trophy away from the ground.

As a result, Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India returned without the trophy. Now, a similar situation could happen if India wins the women’s tournament.

Women’s team could face another trophy moment

India will play the semifinal on September 10. The team may face Bangladesh or UAE in that match. If India reaches the final and wins the title, Mohsin Naqvi could again present the trophy.

However, the Indian women’s team may also refuse to accept the trophy like the men’s team. India remains a strong contender for the Asia Cup title. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has already reached the semifinal stage. Pakistan and Bangladesh could become the remaining semifinal teams based on their group performances.
