WhatsApp Brings Bill Payments Feature, Pay Electricity and Water Bills Easily

WhatsApp launches its new Bill Payments feature in India, allowing users to view, manage, and pay multiple bills within the app.

Paying electricity, water, gas, and other monthly bills often requires multiple apps. However, WhatsApp has now introduced a new Bill Payments feature in India.

The feature allows users to view, manage, and pay different bills directly inside WhatsApp. Therefore, users will not need separate apps for regular payments.

WhatsApp is rolling out this feature gradually across India. Moreover, Android and iOS users will receive access in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp expands its payment services with Bharat Connect

The new Bill Payments feature works through the Bharat Connect (BBPS) network. Through this service, users can access 22,722 billers across 30 categories.

These categories include electricity, water, gas, FASTag, insurance, credit cards, and loan repayments. Additionally, WhatsApp is expanding its existing payment services through this update.

Earlier, WhatsApp provided mobile recharge and other transaction-related facilities. Now, the platform is adding wider bill management options.

How to pay bills through WhatsApp

First, users need to open WhatsApp on their phones. Then, they must tap the rupee icon available at the top of the home screen.

After that, users can select their required bill category and choose the biller. Next, they need to enter and confirm customer or account details.

Once details are added, WhatsApp will automatically display the bill amount. Finally, users can complete payment through UPI, debit card, or credit card.

Multiple bills can be managed from one place

WhatsApp has also added a Household Bills Summary feature. This section can show previously paid billers for easier future access.

Furthermore, users can manage multiple accounts under one biller. The Payments Home screen will display popular categories, while the See All option will show more than 20 categories.

Feature rollout will happen gradually

WhatsApp has not provided the feature to every user yet. The company is releasing it slowly across India.

However, more Android and iOS users will receive the Bill Payments feature in the upcoming weeks.
