8th Pay Commission Moves Forward, Meeting Dates Out, Salary Hike Demands Surge Ahead

Government schedules key meetings in Delhi and Pune as employees push for higher fitment factor and minimum salary under 8th Pay Commission

Millions of central government employees and pensioners await the 8th Pay Commission update. Meanwhile, authorities have accelerated drafting and consultation processes significantly. Therefore, several important meetings have now been scheduled in the coming weeks.

Meetings Planned Across Major Cities

The commission will hold discussions with stakeholders in New Delhi and Pune. These meetings will take place during this month and the next month. Moreover, employee unions, associations, and central government institutions will participate actively.

After these sessions, the commission will also visit Mumbai and other states. Consequently, discussions will expand to include wider stakeholder input.

Participation Process and Vacancies Announced

Associations must first secure appointments before attending meetings. Additionally, they need to submit a memorandum outlining their suggestions. Meanwhile, the commission is also reaching out to stakeholders for consultations.

Alongside this, the commission has announced 20 consultant vacancies. These positions offer full-time roles with salaries up to ₹1.80 lakh monthly. Furthermore, part-time roles are available for six days or twelve days monthly.

Detailed Meeting Schedule Released

The commission has shared specific dates for stakeholder meetings. Meetings will take place in New Delhi on April 28, 29, and 30. Afterward, sessions will be held in Pune on May 4 and 5.

Therefore, these discussions aim to gather direct feedback from employee groups.

Key Demands Under Discussion

Employee unions are pushing for significant salary revisions. They demand an increase in the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.25. Additionally, they seek a rise in minimum salary from ₹18,000 to ₹41,000–₹51,480.

These demands will form the core agenda during the meetings. Consequently, the commission will evaluate all proposals carefully.

Submission Deadline and Process

Participants must submit memorandums through official portals before attending meetings. They can use 8cpc.gov.in or Innovate India (MyGov) platforms. The last date for submission is April 30, 2026.

After submission, participants must receive email confirmation for appointments. Therefore, this process ensures structured and organized consultations.
