Taal 2 Update: Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Khanna Out, Subhash Ghai Reveals New Direction

As 'Taal 2' gears up for production, Subhash Ghai confirms new faces for the sequel, leaving fans in shock

The much-anticipated sequel to the iconic 1999 musical hit Taal has finally been confirmed by filmmaker Subhash Ghai. The film’s cast has caused a stir among fans, as the beloved stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, and Akshay Khanna will not reprise their roles. Instead, fresh faces will join the cast for this musical love story.

The Taal Legacy

Taal, a massive success in the late 90s, continues to be remembered for its unforgettable songs, story, and visuals. Directed by Subhash Ghai, it starred Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, and Akshay Khanna, with a soundtrack composed by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The movie told the story of a singer who rises to stardom after experiencing heartbreak.

Subhash Ghai’s Decision for Taal 2

Subhash Ghai has confirmed that Taal 2 will be a musical love story. However, he clarified that the original stars will not return due to age differences. Ghai explained, “We cannot cast the original actors as they have grown older. It’s impossible to carry forward the original storyline.”

He further stated that the lead roles will be played by new faces. Ghai emphasized that Mukti Arts never resorted to casting stars in cameos. Thus, Aishwarya, Akshay, and Anil will not appear in the sequel. Ghai also mentioned that if star power is needed, they may invite stars, but character suitability will be crucial.

Director’s Role in Taal 2

Although Ghai is closely involved with the writing of Taal 2, he will not direct the film. He explained, “I want a well-known director to take charge of the sequel.” The movie’s announcement is scheduled for October, with preparations underway.

Karma Sequel Announcement

Ghai also shared an exciting update on the sequel to his 1986 film Karma. He said, “It’s time for the audience to witness a sequel. Karma 2 is now in the pipeline.”
