NEET Exam to Go Computer-Based Next Year: Dharmendra Pradhan Announces Major Reform Amid Paper Leak

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirms NEET-UG 2026 re-exam on June 21 and computer-based transition from next year.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a press conference on May 15 regarding the NEET paper leak case. He emphasized that the government prioritizes students’ interests.

During the conference, Pradhan addressed misinformation circulating on social media. He revealed that next year’s NEET exam will switch from OMR sheets to computer-based format.

Furthermore, he explained that students will have one week to choose exam cities according to convenience. The admit cards for the NEET-UG re-exam will be issued by June 14.

Pradhan clarified the events leading to the exam cancellation. The NTA conducted the NEET exam on May 3. On May 7, NTA received complaints about repeated questions from this year’s paper.

Consequently, the NTA and government launched an immediate investigation. After confirming the paper leak, officials canceled the exam on May 12 to protect genuine students from the manipulation by education mafias.

Finally, the Education Minister announced that NTA will hold the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam on June 21. This step ensures fair assessment for all candidates.
