Govinda’s family controversy has taken another turn after Poonam Pandey publicly defended the actor. Recently, Sunita Ahuja appeared outside a family court alongside son Yashvardhan Ahuja. Sunita had filed for divorce from Govinda in 2024. However, she later withdrew that petition.
Meanwhile, Sunita recently criticised Govinda after paparazzi spotted him with upcoming co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar. She questioned his decision to travel alongside a woman around his daughter’s age. Now, Poonam Pandey has challenged those remarks while extending complete support towards Govinda.
Poonam questions criticism over Govinda’s airport appearance
Reacting sharply, Poonam praised Govinda and questioned Sunita’s criticism. She said she fully supports Govinda and would not support people abusing him. According to Poonam, Sunita already knew Govinda’s stature as a major star.
When reporters mentioned Sunita’s comment about the younger actress, Poonam offered another response. She argued that Govinda had appeared with someone publicly at an airport. Therefore, she questioned why people should object to that appearance.
Somi Ali previously defended the actor
Before Poonam, Somy Ali also expressed support for Govinda through an Instagram post. She said she knew Govinda personally and professionally. Somy described him as among Hindi cinema’s finest talents. She also called him one of the most humble actors she encountered.
Furthermore, Somy said she respects both Govinda and Sunita. She argued that age should not determine an actor’s choice of co-star. According to her, talent has no expiry date. She also said continued work deserves respect rather than ridicule.
Somy added that an actor’s importance depends on talent, professionalism and determination. She said age should not decide an artist’s worth.
Why Sunita Ahuja criticised Govinda
Recently, paparazzi spotted Govinda at an airport with Komal Rani Swarnkar. Govinda also introduced his upcoming film’s actress to the paparazzi. Komal has reportedly been described as his rumoured girlfriend. However, neither Govinda nor Komal has responded to those rumours.
Later, paparazzi asked Sunita about Govinda promoting his upcoming film with Komal. Sunita responded sarcastically while questioning their appearance together. She also criticised Komal’s clothing and told her to dress properly.
Sunita further questioned Govinda’s decision to travel with a woman around his daughter’s age. She said he should feel ashamed and maintain some standards.
