Additionally, the administration ordered all schools, colleges and universities to remain closed for two days. Kashmir University postponed examinations scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Chief Minister Appeals for Calm

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep concern over the developments in Iran. He urged communities to remain calm and uphold peace. He emphasized that those mourning should be allowed to grieve peacefully. Furthermore, he asked police and administration to exercise restraint and avoid unnecessary force.

Demonstrations at Aligarh Muslim University

In Uttar Pradesh, protests were reported at Aligarh Muslim University. Students gathered on campus to express sorrow and outrage over Khamenei’s death. Local residents also joined the demonstration within the university premises. Protesters raised slogans against the United States and Israel during the gathering.

One protester stated that they would continue raising their voices wherever martyrdom occurs. Another participant described Khamenei as a leader of humanity and condemned the attack strongly. Participants carried posters of Khamenei and expressed solidarity with Iran. Meanwhile, authorities monitored the situation to ensure that protests remained peaceful.

Mourning in Lucknow’s Old City

In Lucknow, particularly in the Old City area, widespread mourning was observed. Residents announced that markets in Purana Lucknow would remain closed for three days.

The historic Bada Imambara remained closed during the mourning period. The area witnessed visible silence as residents paid their respects solemnly.

Members of the Shia community hoisted black flags at Bada Imambara and Chota Imambara. Posters of Khamenei were prominently displayed across several locations.

Additionally, Israeli and American flags were placed on the ground at the main gate of Chota Imambara as a sign of protest. Several businesses remained shut in solidarity with the mourning call.

Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad appealed to people to observe grief and close shops voluntarily. He also announced three days of mourning in response to the incident.
