US President Donald Trump surprised many with his praise for Pakistan during ongoing Iran deal discussions. Earlier, he criticised Pakistan repeatedly during his first term. However, now he openly appreciates its role. After nearly seven weeks of conflict with Iran, peace talks in Pakistan ended without any result. Still, Trump made a strong claim about a possible agreement.
Trump signals Islamabad visit possibility
While speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump shared a striking statement. He said Pakistan likes him and its officials want him to visit. Moreover, he added that he could travel to Islamabad if the deal finalises there. This statement clearly signals Pakistan’s potential role in the negotiation process. Therefore, Islamabad appears central to upcoming diplomatic efforts.
Praise for Pakistan leadership and mediation role
Additionally, Trump praised Pakistan’s involvement in easing discussions with Iran. He described its mediation role as effective and helpful. Furthermore, he appreciated both Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said both leaders are “very good.” Because of this, he repeated that he might visit Pakistan if talks succeed there.
Trump claims progress in Iran deal discussions
Meanwhile, Trump expressed confidence about ongoing talks with Iran. He said conversations are going very well at this stage. He believes both sides could reach an agreement soon. If that happens, officials will announce it quickly. He also linked the deal to wider benefits. According to him, it could free the Strait of Hormuz and improve oil supply.
Oil prices and global impact in focus
Trump further claimed the agreement could reduce oil prices significantly. He suggested prices might fall even lower than current levels. Therefore, the outcome holds major economic importance. At the same time, efforts for the second round of talks have intensified. Pakistan continues to push for progress in these negotiations.
Key meeting signals growing diplomatic momentum
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir met Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran on Thursday, April 16. According to Al Jazeera, this meeting happened amid ongoing deal efforts. Hence, diplomatic activity between all sides continues to increase rapidly.
