Arvind Kejriwal Links LPG Crisis to Foreign Policy, Warns of Massive Job Losses

Arvind Kejriwal says the LPG shortage has hit hotels, restaurants, and industries hard. Moreover, he blames the Centre’s foreign policy and warns that over one crore people may lose jobs.

India is facing a serious crisis, according to AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Moreover, he said commercial gas shortages have badly hit hotels, restaurants, and several industries. During a press conference, he also claimed that sudden unemployment may rise sharply across the country. Furthermore, he blamed the government’s decisions for the worsening LPG crisis.

Kejriwal Says LPG Supply Has Fallen Sharply

Kejriwal said the country now faces a severe LPG shortage. According to him, daily production currently stands at only 50 percent. He also said India imports 60 percent of its total LPG consumption. Furthermore, he claimed that 90 percent of that imported share comes through the Strait of Hormuz. However, he said that route has now closed for India. Therefore, he added, the country now receives only 50 to 55 percent LPG.

Hotels and Restaurants Face Immediate Trouble

Kejriwal said restaurants and hotels are facing the biggest impact. According to him, the government has ordered that these businesses will not get LPG supply. He also said safety rules stop restaurants and hotels from storing cylinder stock. Therefore, these businesses depend on daily cylinder deliveries. However, he added, the sudden stoppage has left them without even two days’ stock.

Moreover, he said 20 percent of hotels and restaurants in Mumbai have already shut. Besides that, he warned that 50 percent may close within three days. He also claimed that 10,000 hotels in Tamil Nadu stand on the edge of closure. Similarly, he said thousands of hotels in Punjab and Delhi may also shut soon. Furthermore, he noted that wedding season is currently underway. Therefore, he warned that many families may need to postpone wedding dates if the crisis continues. Additionally, he said similar reports are coming from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Bihar.

Kejriwal Warns of More Than One Crore Job Losses

Kejriwal also raised concerns over unemployment. According to him, Morbi in Gujarat, which he called the tile industry capital, has 650 industries. However, he said 170 of them have already closed. As a result, he claimed one lakh people there have lost jobs. Furthermore, he warned that more than one crore people across India may suddenly become unemployed. Therefore, he asked people to imagine the scale of such a situation.

Kejriwal Points to Rising Prices and Black Marketing

Kejriwal also spoke about rising cylinder prices. He said the government had already increased rates for domestic and commercial cylinders in recent days. However, he added that the situation has worsened further in the market. According to him, people are now selling cylinders openly in black. Therefore, he said the country must understand why this is happening.

Kejriwal Connects Crisis to Iran Conflict

Kejriwal linked the LPG crisis to the recent conflict involving Iran. He said Israel and the United States attacked Iran. Moreover, he said most of the world’s oil and gas movement passes through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, Iran now controls that route. He also said Iran has declared that only friendly countries may move ships through it. Therefore, he claimed only Russian and Chinese ships are currently passing through there.

Kejriwal Blames PM Modi’s Foreign Policy

After that, Kejriwal directly attacked the central government. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the biggest mistake. According to him, India should not have supported any side during a war. Instead, he said, India should have stayed neutral. Furthermore, he said India had followed that foreign policy for 75 years. However, he claimed PM Modi destroyed that approach within a few days.

Kejriwal also said PM Modi openly stood with Israel and America and against Iran. Moreover, he questioned Modi’s Israel visit just one day before the war began. Therefore, he argued that the current LPG crisis has grown out of that foreign policy decision.

Political Attack Sharpens During Economic Stress

Kejriwal’s remarks combine economic concern with political criticism. On one hand, he described supply shortages and business shutdowns. On the other hand, he blamed the Centre for choosing sides in an international conflict. Therefore, his statement turned the LPG shortage into a larger political issue. Moreover, he presented the crisis as both an economic emergency and a foreign policy failure.

Businesses, Workers and Families Face Uncertainty

According to Kejriwal, the impact has already reached businesses and workers across many states. Hotels and restaurants face closures. Industries have already stopped operations in some places. Meanwhile, workers face job loss fears. Furthermore, families planning weddings may also face disruption. Therefore, he warned that the crisis may deepen quickly if supplies do not improve.

Arvind Kejriwal has presented the LPG shortage as a national crisis. According to him, the problem has cut supply, closed businesses, and threatened jobs. Moreover, he linked the crisis to black marketing, rising prices, and global conflict. Finally, he blamed PM Modi’s foreign policy for worsening the situation. Therefore, his remarks have added a sharp political edge to an already serious supply disruption.
