Divorce rumours surrounding Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have returned once again. Last year, reports had already suggested trouble between the couple. However, both appeared together during Ganpati Puja and rejected those rumours. Now, fresh speculation has emerged after Sunita visited a family court on Wednesday morning. She arrived alongside her son Yashvardhan, while a related video quickly spread across social media.
The viral footage shows Sunita leaving the family court with Yashvardhan. Usually outspoken before cameras, Sunita appeared unusually quiet and serious. She also seemed eager to leave quickly without speaking with photographers. Meanwhile, Yashvardhan requested photographers not to take pictures. While entering her vehicle, Sunita reportedly made a sarcastic remark about celebrating a birthday.
Divorce speculation first surfaced during 2024. Reports claimed Sunita had filed for divorce from Govinda. Later court documents reportedly showed a petition dated December 5, 2024. The filing reportedly took place at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court.
Months later, Govinda’s lawyer and family friend Lalit Bindal confirmed the filing. However, he stressed that the couple had reunited. He also said people had misunderstood some remarks from Sunita. According to him, their marriage was not heading towards a permanent separation.
Later that year, Govinda’s lawyer again rejected reports about an imminent split. Sunita also said she would never leave Govinda. She explained their separate homes through his political work and family privacy needs. Their daughter Tina Ahuja had also reached adulthood during that period.
Past statements and recent disputes add another layer
Recently, Sunita discussed Govinda’s alleged affairs during Lock Upp: Sach Ya Saza 2. She said love requires accepting everything. Sunita also remarked that actors often have affairs with co-stars. Later, she questioned whether anyone could constantly control another person.
Another recent dispute began after Govinda appeared at an airport with alleged girlfriend Rani Swarnkar. Rani reportedly stars alongside Govinda in his upcoming film Roopa. Photos featuring both circulated widely across social media. Neither Govinda nor Komal publicly confirmed a romantic relationship.
Sunita reacted sharply to the development. She criticised Govinda for appearing with a woman close to their daughter’s age. She also made remarks about clothing and alleged standards.
Govinda later responded through a video message. He accused Sunita of interfering with his professional work. Additionally, he objected to comments targeting people entering the film industry from ordinary backgrounds.
He also responded to criticism about age differences involving actresses. Govinda said several major actors had worked with younger actresses.
Govinda and Sunita married in 1987. They reportedly kept their marriage private for nearly two years. The couple publicly revealed their relationship after daughter Tina’s birth. They also have a son, Yashvardhan Ahuja.
