US–Iran deal triggers global diplomatic reactions
The US Iran agreement has drawn strong international responses across global leadership circles. Pakistan and Qatar played key mediation roles in the negotiation process. Meloni praises mediators and calls it a rare opportunity
Giorgia Meloni shared her remarks on the social media platform X. She welcomed the US–Iran agreement along with France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Furthermore, she extended gratitude to all mediators involved in the process. She specifically thanked Qatar and Pakistan for enabling the agreement. According to her statement, this moment represents a rare opportunity for peace. Therefore, she stressed that this opportunity must not be missed.
Italy signals readiness for broader diplomatic role
Meloni stated Italy’s readiness to support wider diplomatic efforts. She emphasized backing structured negotiations toward a broader agreement framework. However, she clearly stated that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons. Additionally, she highlighted the need to ensure freedom of maritime movement. Italy also expressed willingness to support international naval presence if required. This includes participation in reopening strategic routes such as Hormuz after approvals.
Lebanon situation and European joint response
Meloni also addressed ongoing tensions in Lebanon during her statement. She stressed that conflict in Lebanon must end immediately. Furthermore, she reaffirmed Italy’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty. European leaders jointly welcomed the US–Iran memorandum announcement. They also congratulated all parties involved in the diplomatic process. Finally, they urged fast and complete implementation of the agreement.
