Amid escalating tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s peace proposal regarding the Hormuz Strait blockade. He emphasized that sanctions would remain in place until Iran halts its nuclear program. Trump stated that the blockade was more effective than bombing, leaving Iran in severe pressure.
Trump Defends the Blockade
In an interview with Axios, Trump defended the ongoing blockade, calling it a more powerful strategy than military actions. He insisted that Iran could not develop nuclear weapons, and the sanctions would tighten further until they comply. Trump claimed that Iran was under significant pressure and eager to negotiate, but he refused to lift the sanctions.
Iran’s Demand and U.S. Stance
Iran wants to lift the trade restrictions before discussing its nuclear program. The U.S., however, insists that Iran must cease its nuclear activities before any concessions. Both nations are at an impasse, with neither side willing to compromise.
Iran proposed a phased resolution through Pakistan, beginning with the opening of the Hormuz Strait. However, Trump rejected this offer, closing the door to any potential agreement in the near future.
