President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense system might soon become the most expensive defense project globally. Currently, Congress has approved an initial funding of approximately ₹2 lakh crore for the project. However, the project’s critics have raised concerns. Some Democratic senators believe the system could benefit defense contractors while placing a heavy burden on U.S. taxpayers.

Trump ordered the project’s initiation during his first week in office. His goal is for the Golden Dome system to be fully operational by January 2029. However, considering the massive budget and technical challenges, achieving this deadline may prove difficult.
