Sunny Deol started the year with patriotic drama Border 2, which created excitement among audiences. Now, the actor returns with his historical drama Batwara 1947. Fans eagerly await the film’s release. Meanwhile, the movie has received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification.
Sunny shared the update through his Instagram stories on Monday. He also revealed the certificate given to the film.
Batwara 1947 Receives A Certificate Without Cuts
Sunny Deol announced that CBFC approved Batwara 1947 without any cuts. The film received an ‘A’ certificate from the board. Sharing the update, Sunny wrote that the movie represents humanity and love. He also asked audiences to watch the film in theatres.
Furthermore, the actor confirmed that Batwara 1947 will release on August 14. The date marks Partition Day.

Star Cast And Creative Team Behind Film
Along with Sunny Deol, the film features Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal.
Additionally, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hazare and Kanika Kapoor are part of the cast. The movie marks Preity Zinta’s return to acting after more than five years.
Moreover, AR Rahman composed the music for Batwara 1947. Javed Akhtar wrote the songs for the film.
Film Explores Partition, Humanity And Relationships
Batwara 1947 follows a Muhajir family that moves to Lahore after Partition. The family begins living in an empty Hindu house. The story adapts renowned playwright Asghar Wajahat’s play “Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya Nai”. The film focuses on an elderly Hindu woman who refuses to leave her home.
Consequently, the story shows tensions between the woman and the Muhajir family. It explores relationships between two families during a difficult chapter of history.
The film also searches for hope amid one of humanity’s darkest periods. Batwara 1947 marks the first collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi and producer Aamir Khan.
Aamir Khan said the script was among Dharamji’s favourite stories. He added that he felt happy Dharamji could watch the film.
