Iran’s reply to America’s proposal has hurt Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir’s peace deal effort. Iran said it will not accept an agreement on U.S. conditions. Moreover, Tehran refused to destroy its uranium enrichment sites. After that, Washington called Iran’s counterproposal unacceptable. President Donald Trump also posted about the issue.

Qatar Enters After Munir’s Failure

Meanwhile, Qatar Prime Minister Al-Thani became active after Munir failed in the peace deal push. To prepare a possible agreement route, Thani met key American figures. He met U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Miami. Additionally, he met negotiation envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Al-Thani Will Speak To Iran Next

After these Miami meetings, Thani will speak with Iranian leaders. Qatar wants both sides to finalise a one-page agreement proposal before Trump’s China visit. However, Pakistan Army chief Munir could not secure that outcome despite many efforts. Therefore, Qatar has now taken a central role.

America Moves Al-Thani Forward

According to Axios, Qatar’s Prime Minister Al-Thani visited Washington last week for another matter. During that visit, Vice President J.D. Vance contacted him. Then, Thani travelled to Miami for the meeting. There, he also spoke with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

J.D. Vance Leads The Talks

Vice President J.D. Vance leads the negotiation team. Witkoff and Kushner work as members of that team. As per the report, America wants consensus on the one-page proposal before Trump’s China visit. Trump’s visit to China has dates from 13 to 15.

Pakistan Route Failed To Deliver

America recently sent the proposal to Iran through Pakistan. However, Iran’s position on the agreement remains unclear. Tehran has already rejected U.S. conditions linked to its uranium enrichment sites. Consequently, Washington now looks toward Qatar’s mediation network.

Al-Thani Carries Deal-Making Weight

People consider Qatar’s Prime Minister Al-Thani skilled in deal-making. When America remained stuck in Afghanistan, Qatar helped create an exit route. In 2021, Qatar enabled an agreement between America and Afghanistan. Similarly, Qatar now leads mediation in the Venezuela matter.

Iran Also Trusts Qatar

Iran also trusts Qatar, according to the reference text. During the war, Iran did not attack Qatar at a large scale. This matters because Qatar hosts several American bases. Even so, Iran avoided major action against the Gulf country.

U.S. Wants Three Early Commitments

America wants Iran to first agree on nuclear weapons, Hormuz, and economic sanctions. However, Iran has placed its own condition before further progress. Tehran says talks cannot move ahead until it receives war compensation. Therefore, the final agreement still faces major obstacles.

Final Deal Remains Uncertain

Now, Qatar must bridge two hard positions. America wants early commitments before Trump’s China visit. Meanwhile, Iran rejects U.S. terms and demands war damages first. As a result, Al-Thani’s next talks with Iranian leaders will decide the deal’s direction.
