Petrol-Diesel Prices Keep Rising Again as Global Oil Tensions Deepen Further

Crude supply worries linked with Iran tensions pushed fuel prices higher again, while petrol and diesel crossed fresh levels across major Indian cities.

Petrol and diesel prices shocked citizens once again today as the government raised fuel rates. Petrol increased ₹2.61 per litre, and diesel rose ₹2.71 per litre. Companies imposed the fourth hike in just ten days. The Iran crisis pushed crude prices higher, forcing firms to adjust rates to recover losses.

Delhi Sees Significant Fuel Price Jump

In Delhi, diesel climbed from ₹92.49 per litre to ₹95.20 per litre. Petrol rose from ₹99.51 per litre to ₹102.12 per litre. Premium fuels also increased sharply, with XP95 rising from ₹106.63 to ₹109.24 per litre. XG climbed from ₹97.81 per litre to ₹100.52 per litre.

Metro Cities Record Steep Petrol Price Hikes

Kolkata’s petrol increased by ₹2.87 per litre, reaching ₹113.51 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol rose by ₹2.72 per litre to ₹111.21. Chennai also saw a rise, with petrol increasing ₹2.46 per litre, hitting ₹107.77.

Previous Price Hikes Over the Last Ten Days

On 23 May, fuel prices increased again, with petrol up by 87 paise per litre and diesel by 91 paise per litre. Earlier, petrol rose ₹3 on 15 May, followed by a 90 paise increase on 19 May.

Global Crude Oil Prices Show Decline

Despite local hikes, global crude prices fell due to growing US-Iran peace hopes. Brent crude dropped 4.55% to 98.83 dollars per barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude declined 4.73% to 92.03 dollars per barrel. These levels marked the lowest prices since 7 May.

Impact on Households and Future Outlook

Rising petrol and diesel prices strain household budgets heavily. Repeated hikes will likely increase transportation and daily living expenses further. Citizens now watch global crude developments and pricing trends closely.
