A protest march in Patna turned tense as students clashed with police during the Chief Minister’s residence gherao programme.
The students demanded cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination. They had announced a march from Gandhi Maidan towards Raj Bhavan.
However, police stopped the protesters before they could reach the restricted area. During the march, students broke police barricades, leading to a confrontation.
Police stop students from moving ahead
Meanwhile, police tried to prevent students from reaching Raj Bhavan. However, protesters continued moving forward despite restrictions.
The students wanted to surround the Chief Minister’s residence over multiple demands. They have been protesting at Gardanibagh for several days.
DSP Kamakhya Narayan Singh said authorities would stop them from moving ahead. He added that officials had positive discussions with students.
According to Singh, students raised several issues before senior officers. He hoped the crowd would reduce after the discussions.
Furthermore, he said police would prevent entry into restricted areas if students refused to cooperate.
Students raise multiple recruitment demands
The protesters have placed several demands before the government.

Earlier, the government held positive discussions with protesting students. However, students still announced the Chief Minister’s residence march.
The protesters remain firm on demands related to the 70th BPSC examination. They also seek changes in teacher recruitment examinations.
Students have demanded removal of PT-Mains and negative marking from TRE-4 exams. The government assured action on several demands.
Despite these assurances, students gathered on Patna streets. They continued their protest against the government over recruitment issues.
