The political journey of Malayalam actor Devan has taken a fresh turn after his exit from BJP. Devan has resigned from Kerala BJP and now plans to join Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The party has attracted leaders and celebrities since C. Joseph Vijay became Tamil Nadu’s chief minister. Meanwhile, Devan has expressed strong interest in joining Vijay’s party. He currently awaits a personal meeting with Vijay before taking the next step.
Speaking to news agency ANI on Monday, August 24, Devan explained his decision. He said he worked for BJP with strong passion and aggression. Moreover, he claimed that he accepted several risks while pursuing his political mission. However, Devan said BJP leaders failed to understand his mission and planning.

Devan then launched a sharp criticism of BJP’s political approach. He claimed that party leaders opposed the ideas he supported. According to Devan, BJP leaders showed little interest in winning elections. Instead, he alleged that they focused on making money. Devan said he opposed this approach and faced restrictions within the party.
During 2024-25, Devan began considering his departure from BJP. Eventually, he concluded that remaining there could not fulfil his political ambitions. Therefore, he decided to leave the party and pursue another political path.
How Vijay’s TVK entered the picture
After Devan resigned from BJP, Vijay noticed his decision. Subsequently, Vijay sent several people to ask about Devan’s interest in joining TVK. This led to detailed discussions between Devan and the party representatives. Later, Devan attended an online meeting with senior TVK leaders in Chennai.
Following those discussions, Devan agreed in principle to join TVK. However, he wanted to meet Vijay personally before proceeding further. Devan said he requested a separate meeting with the TVK chief. The party then gave him September 10 as the meeting date.
Now, Devan awaits that meeting with Vijay. His resignation from BJP has already marked a fresh phase in his political journey.
