Rabri House Clash: Lalu Family Refuses to Vacate Amid Health Emergency Claim

Rabri Devi requests continuation at 10 Circular Road citing Lalu Prasad’s kidney transplant, medical risks, and housing adjustment demand to government

The Lalu family has decided not to vacate the Rabri residence at this stage. Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has sent an official letter to the Building Construction Department. In her communication, she requested that 10 Circular Road not be vacated immediately. She cited Lalu Prasad’s health condition as the primary reason behind the request. Earlier, the government had issued a notice to vacate the residence within a fixed timeline.

Medical condition cited as key reason

Rabri Devi stated that Lalu Prasad underwent a kidney transplant in Singapore. She further explained that doctors have advised strict medical precautions due to infection risks. Additionally, she noted that he needs to remain separated from other family members. Therefore, a separate room has already been arranged for him at 10 Circular Road. She emphasized that his health requires continuous attention and controlled surroundings.

Request for similar facilities at new residence

Rabri Devi also mentioned that she has been allotted the 39 Harding Road residence. She serves as Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. Furthermore, she requested that similar medical arrangements be provided there as well. She asked for a dedicated room and necessary facilities for Lalu Prasad. Until such arrangements are completed, she requested permission to continue staying at 10 Circular Road. She also added that she will shift once the setup is ready at the new residence.

Deadline and administrative timeline

Authorities had issued a final notice last month regarding vacation of 10 Circular Road. After that, the district administration provided a 15-day ultimatum. They also warned that legal action would follow non-compliance. The final deadline for vacating the residence was set for 14 June. However, Rabri Devi has now submitted a fresh written request to the authorities. Notably, the family has been residing at 10 Circular Road for nearly 20 years.
