IndiGo Flight Emergency: Pilot Falls Ill Mid-Air, Plane Diverted to Muscat

IndiGo flight 6E 1302 from Doha to Bengaluru made a safe emergency landing in Muscat on Thursday morning. During the journey, the pilot suddenly faced a health issue. Therefore, the aircraft diverted to Muscat as a precautionary step.

The plane landed safely at Muscat Airport. Soon after landing, medical teams took the pilot to a hospital. Currently, the pilot’s condition remains stable.

IndiGo arranges another aircraft for passengers

After the emergency landing, IndiGo arranged alternative travel plans for passengers. The airline will send another aircraft from Bengaluru to Muscat. Additionally, a fresh crew team will operate the onward journey.

Through this arrangement, passengers will continue their travel towards Bengaluru. The airline started preparations to complete their remaining journey.

Air India flight also made emergency landing in Lucknow

Earlier, an Air India flight travelling from Varanasi to Delhi made an emergency landing at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The pilot diverted the aircraft after receiving smoke indications from the aft cargo compartment.

All 155 passengers and crew members remained safe during the incident. The aircraft landed in Lucknow as a precautionary measure.

Smoke indication checked after landing

According to information, Air India flight IX-1253 departed from Varanasi for Delhi. During the flight, the aircraft received a smoke indication from the aft cargo compartment.

Hence, the pilot diverted the plane towards Lucknow Airport. The aircraft landed safely around 8:52 am.

After arrival, the airport emergency response team received an alert. The team immediately conducted a visual inspection of the aircraft.

However, the inspection found no smoke inside the aircraft or cargo compartment. Later, officials parked the aircraft at the airport stand.

The process to deboard passengers started around 9:02 am. All passengers and crew members exited safely. Furthermore, the airport administration reported no injuries.

Following the precautionary landing, authorities started the aircraft’s technical inspection.
