Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko praised India during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. He included India among the world’s powerful countries during his speech.
The SCO summit took place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the important meeting.
Lukashenko said equality among countries does not change the reality. He described China, Russia and India as three powerful nations.
According to him, these countries hold economic strength and nuclear capabilities. However, the statement did not include the United States.
SCO Members Condemn Attacks On Iran
Meanwhile, SCO member countries expressed concern over developments in West Asia. They also condemned American attacks on Iran through a joint statement.
The statement received the name Bishkek Declaration. The SCO includes Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Furthermore, member nations highlighted the need to prevent internet misuse. They focused on stopping terrorist and separatist activities through online platforms.
The countries also agreed to improve cooperation in international information security. They discussed information protection and new forms of crime.
India Raises Terrorism Concerns At Summit
During the summit, India focused on strengthening security cooperation. The country also highlighted measures against terrorism and extremism.
The Ministry of External Affairs shared details about 13 decisions. One decision approved rules for a universal centre dealing with SCO security challenges.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed terrorism concerns during the summit. He spoke in the presence of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Modi said countries using terrorism as a government policy must face opposition. He stressed the need to counter such nations through collective efforts.
