The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new WhatsApp service for members. Now, employees can check PF balance, view passbook details and track claims easily. Previously, members depended on portals or mobile applications for these services. However, the new WhatsApp facility allows users to receive real-time PF details.
Members can access account updates through their registered mobile numbers. They can also check employer contributions and withdrawal claim information.
Furthermore, EPFO aims to improve digital governance through this initiative. The service will especially help users facing technical issues on web portals.
WhatsApp Channel Offers Multiple EPFO Services
EPFO announced the WhatsApp service through a post on social media platform X.
The organisation shared that members can join its official WhatsApp channel for important updates.
The channel provides official news, scheme alerts and important announcements. At the time of reporting, 84,000 members had joined the official channel.
Additionally, EPF members can start conversations through EPFO’s verified WhatsApp number. Users need to type “Hello” to begin interaction.
The service allows members to check PF balance and view their last five transactions.
Moreover, users can track EPF claim status through the messaging platform. Members can also choose to receive messages from EPFO on registered numbers.

Key Benefits For EPF Members
EPF remains a government-backed retirement savings option for salaried employees. The Finance Ministry approved an 8.25% interest rate for EPF and VPF during FY26.
Meanwhile, the WhatsApp system aims to provide 24/7 access. Automated tools will handle basic account requests and common questions.
The service may reduce visits to EPFO offices. It can also lower dependence on customer care call centres.
Why EPFO Started WhatsApp-Based Support
The move follows Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s announcement in May.
He had discussed plans to introduce a WhatsApp chatbot for user queries and basic account requests.
According to ANI, the initiative focuses on improving accessibility and member services.
Mandaviya said EPFO has taken steps to reduce legal disputes. The organisation also works to resolve pending cases across legal platforms.
Furthermore, WhatsApp offers wider reach because many EPFO members already use the application.
The platform can support regional languages, helping members communicate in their preferred language.
Additionally, the ministry highlighted members under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY).
These members may face issues related to incomplete Aadhaar authentication or unavailable Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
