Bihar’s Next CM Finalised: Samrat Chaudhary Set To Take Charge, Nishant Kumar Will be Deputy CM

After Nitish Kumar moves to Rajya Sabha, Samrat Chaudhary will take oath as Bihar CM on April 15, while Nishant Kumar and Vijay Chaudhary are likely deputy CMs.

Samrat Chaudhary will become the new Chief Minister of Bihar, as his name stands finalized. Meanwhile, Nishant Kumar may take oath as Deputy Chief Minister soon.

Oath Ceremony And Key Appointments

The oath ceremony will take place on April 15 at 11 AM in Lok Bhavan. During the event, the Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers will take oath together.

Moreover, Nishant Kumar and Vijay Chaudhary names remain almost confirmed for deputy positions. Therefore, leadership structure appears nearly finalized before the ceremony.

Preparations And Official Meetings

On Monday, the Governor’s Secretary met Samrat Chaudhary regarding ceremony preparations. During this meeting, officials discussed arrangements and expected high-profile attendees.

Additionally, Samrat Chaudhary reviewed a probable list of ministers with the Governor’s Secretary. Therefore, cabinet formation discussions have already begun ahead of oath.

Reason Behind Leadership Change

Nitish Kumar’s move to Rajya Sabha created vacancy in Chief Minister position. Consequently, political discussions continued for several days regarding successor selection.

Several names surfaced during this period, yet final approval went to Samrat Chaudhary. Therefore, leadership uncertainty has now ended with this announcement.

Samrat Chaudhary Background And Political Journey

Samrat Chaudhary was born on November 16, 1968 and married Mamta Kumari. His father, Shakuni Chaudhary, remains a known socialist leader in Bihar politics.

Earlier, Shakuni Chaudhary maintained close ties with Lalu Prasad Yadav. Later, he shifted political alignment and joined Nitish Kumar.

Therefore, Samrat Chaudhary inherited strong political background from his family. He started his political journey under his father’s guidance.

Interestingly, he began his career with RJD despite opposing Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav now. Thus, his early learning came from Lalu Prasad’s political environment.

Historic Milestone As Chief Minister

Samrat Chaudhary will take oath as Bihar’s 24th Chief Minister soon. Additionally, he becomes second leader who served as Deputy CM before becoming CM.

Previously, only Karpoori Thakur achieved this milestone in Bihar history. However, leaders like Sushil Kumar Modi and Tejashwi Yadav could not reach this position.

Similarly, Anugrah Narayan Singh and Renu Devi also did not achieve this transition. Therefore, Samrat Chaudhary now joins a rare list in state politics.
