Bengal Tribal Woman Death Case: Two Arrested After Family Alleges Gangrape And Murder

A 28-year-old tribal woman from East Burdwan was found dead near Palitpur canal. Police arrested two accused within 24 hours and started investigation.

A shocking incident has emerged from East Burdwan district in West Bengal. A 28-year-old tribal woman, Rani Hemram, died under suspicious circumstances. According to her family, criminals allegedly gangraped and murdered her. The incident occurred near Palitpur Canalpara area under Dewandighi police station.

Meanwhile, police acted quickly and arrested two accused within 24 hours. A five-member forensic team also reached the spot on Wednesday. The team started collecting scientific evidence during the investigation. The incident has created anger among local residents.

Family Found Rani Hemram’s Body Near Palitpur Canal

Police and local sources said authorities recovered Rani Hemram’s damaged body from farmland near Palitpur canal on Tuesday. Although her in-laws live in Dighirpar, she stayed with her family in Palitpur. Furthermore, relatives said Rani left home Tuesday afternoon to search for her husband. Later, her husband returned and learned about her search. Afterwards, family members and locals started looking for her in different areas. Finally, they found her injured and blood-covered body near the canal.

Family Accuses Gangrape And Murder

Following the information, Dewandighi police reached the location. Officers took the body and sent it to Burdwan Medical College Hospital for postmortem. However, Rani’s family alleged that attackers committed gangrape before killing her. They also claimed criminals dumped her body in the field.

Additionally, relatives and local people demanded strict punishment for those responsible.

Police Arrest Two Accused Within 24 Hours

Based on the family’s written complaint, police started the investigation. Within 24 hours, officers arrested two accused. The arrested individuals were identified as Sheikh Azizul and Sheikh Bhadayi. Police caught Sheikh Azizul from Dewandighi area.

Meanwhile, authorities detained Sheikh Bhadayi from Nanur area in Birbhum district before arresting him.

Police registered charges including gangrape, murder, and destruction of evidence. Both accused appeared before Burdwan district court on Wednesday.

Forensic Team Collects Evidence During Investigation

Investigators are questioning the accused to understand the incident’s cause and circumstances. Police are also checking possible involvement of others. Moreover, the five-member forensic team collected several samples from the location. Experts started examining those samples. Police are using forensic reports, postmortem findings, and scientific evidence to continue the investigation.

Authorities said the probe remains at an early stage. Police are examining every aspect and promised strict action under law.
