Pakistan Strikes Again in Afghanistan: 13 Killed Amid Rising Tensions

Pakistan conducted another airstrike in Afghanistan, targeting multiple provinces; Taliban confirms casualties, tensions escalate despite prior ceasefire.

Pakistan launched fresh airstrikes across Afghanistan, hitting Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces, leaving 13 people dead and 14 injured.

Among the fatalities, 11 were children, one woman, and one elderly person, according to Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid.

Authorities have not confirmed the exact intensity or reasons behind the strike, while Pakistan has not officially acknowledged responsibility.

Escalating Cross-Border Tensions

This attack follows months of rising hostility between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with previous incidents causing hundreds of casualties.

A ceasefire, previously brokered with China’s mediation, provided temporary relief but failed to prevent the renewed escalation.

The April 27 airstrike by Pakistan endangered the ceasefire, killing at least seven people and injuring 85 in universities and residential areas.

International and Regional Reactions

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned Pakistan’s repeated attacks, expressing grief and solidarity with the victims’ families.

Karzai warned Pakistan that persistence in hostile policies will fail to achieve strategic objectives and urged neighborly cooperation.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s well-being depends on abandoning war and destruction, choosing a constructive role in regional peace.
