People using the mAadhaar app should note this important update. The Unique Identification Authority of India, or UIDAI, has said it will soon close mAadhaar. Instead, UIDAI has introduced a new “Aadhaar” app. The authority has designed it to offer safer and easier access. Moreover, the new app gives special attention to user privacy.
Why The Old App Will Go
The mAadhaar app completed its role well. However, UIDAI built it for a different digital phase. Its main purpose involved working like a digital wallet for Aadhaar cards. Reports say users often shared complete details at hotels, hospitals, or government offices. Therefore, UIDAI created the new app to solve this privacy concern.
Privacy Gets A Stronger Focus
The new Aadhaar app aims to protect personal information from misuse. Users will not need to share full details every time. Instead, they can share only the data required for a specific task. This system follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act rules. Its main goal focuses on privacy protection and prevention of data misuse.
Smart Features In The New App
The new Aadhaar app offers several advanced features. It includes face authentication, QR code identity checks, and need-based data sharing. For example, if someone only needs age verification, users can share age alone. They will not need to reveal their full Aadhaar number or address.
Individual Data Sharing Options
Users can share details separately through the new app. These details include name, address, photo, gender, mobile number, and Aadhaar status. Additionally, the app will offer fingerprint, face, and iris lock features. These tools will add stronger safety around Aadhaar-linked information.
Family Profiles On One Phone
The app also allows family profile access on one device. Users can add Aadhaar profiles of up to five family members on a single phone. This feature can help families manage Aadhaar details more easily. However, users should still download only the official app.
How To Download And Register
UIDAI has advised people to use only the official Aadhaar app. Users should visit Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then, they must search for the app named “Aadhaar.” The official version will show the Pehchaan logo.
After downloading, users need to choose one language from 13 options. Next, they must enter the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. The app will verify the number through OTP. After that, it may ask for a face scan. Finally, users must set a security PIN and link their profile using the 12-digit Aadhaar number.
Old Data Will Not Shift Automatically
Users should remember one important point. Old mAadhaar data will not move automatically into the new app. Therefore, saved Aadhaar PDFs, QR codes, and family profiles must be added again. This step will help users complete their shift to the new Aadhaar app.
