Italy Visit Forms The Backdrop

Rahul Gandhi’s remark came after PM Modi’s Italy visit. During that trip, Modi shared photos and videos showing lighter moments with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In one such moment, Modi gifted Meloni a packet of Melody chocolates. Therefore, the visuals soon entered political discussion.

‘Melodi’ Reference Returns

The episode also revived the “Melodi” reference. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni coined the word in 2024. She combined Meloni and Modi to present deeper ties between both nations. Consequently, Rahul Gandhi used the Italy visit backdrop to sharpen his criticism.

Gandhi Warns Of Economic Trouble

Rahul Gandhi wrote that an economic storm was raging over people’s heads. He added that the Prime Minister was busy handing out candies in Italy. According to Gandhi, farmers, youth, women, labourers, and small traders were all in tears.

Reels, Laughter And BJP Claps

Gandhi further said PM Modi was laughing and making reels. He also said BJP people were clapping along. Then, he described the situation as a farce, not leadership. Through this remark, Gandhi linked public distress with the Prime Minister’s lighter moments abroad.
