Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will take oath as Rajya Sabha member on Friday, April 10. Meanwhile his move signals a major political transition in Bihar. He reached Delhi on Thursday, April 9. Moreover JDU leaders including Sanjay Kumar Jha welcomed him at the airport. He said he came to take oath.

Oath Ceremony and Immediate Impact

Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan will administer the oath in his chamber. Nitish Kumar will become a member of the Upper House. Consequently his tenure as Bihar Chief Minister will end. The National Democratic Alliance may select a new Chief Minister on April 14.

NDA Signals Continuity in Governance

Meanwhile Bihar minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary shared details about the transition. He said Nitish Kumar will resign from the Chief Minister post after oath. However he added governance will follow the Nitish model. He stated this model has guided Bihar for the last twenty years.

Earlier Resignation Clears the Path

Earlier Nitish Kumar resigned from the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30. This followed his election to the Rajya Sabha. He secured election on March 16. Therefore his resignation ensured a smooth transition to his new parliamentary role.
