Cockroach Janata Party co-convenor Saurav Das has called for wider participation in efforts to change the country. He said meaningful change requires every individual to play a role. According to Das, the past 12 years created a damaging belief within one section. He said that group began thinking it alone held responsibility for the country.
However, young people challenged that mindset, according to Das. He now stressed participation from every citizen. In a social media post, Das said the country belongs to everyone. He added that every person therefore carries responsibility for improving the system. Das also welcomed everyone who wants to join the organisation’s protest.
CJP intensifies campaign against CEC Gyanesh Kumar
Das issued the statement as CJP intensified its campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The organisation has questioned election procedures and voter rights while demanding Kumar’s resignation. CJP announced a nationwide protest if Kumar failed to resign within 48 hours. Afterwards, the organisation planned a protest in Delhi resembling its proposed ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ campaign.
Das linked this movement with public participation rather than one individual or organisation. Meanwhile, CJP has raised questions about the Election Commission’s functioning and Special Intensive Revision, or SIR. The organisation has sought greater transparency around voter deletions and election-related decisions. Additionally, CJP said it would launch an ‘Fix the Election Commission’ campaign.
CJP’s earlier campaigns and the wider message
CJP previously protested at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET examination paper leak. Subsequently, the organisation discussed campaigns concerning government schools and healthcare facilities in rural areas. Now, CJP has expanded its campaign towards election-related issues. Das argued that demands for accountability should not remain limited to a small group.
Instead, he stressed participation from young people alongside every other section. Therefore, his central message focused on collective involvement in seeking systemic change. He also reiterated that everyone joining the protest would receive a welcome.
