CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke reacted to the ongoing unrest at Punjab’s Lovely Professional University. He said women’s hostels must provide maximum safety.
Dipke shared his response on Monday, September 28, after protests erupted at the university campus. The unrest started after a student alleged rape by an outsider.
Following the claim, students damaged property across the campus. Authorities later formed a Special Investigation Team to examine the matter.
Deepke Raises Concerns Over Women Safety
Abhijeet Dipke shared an LPU video on X and highlighted women’s security concerns. He said university hostels should remain the safest places for women.
According to Dipke, if women feel unsafe inside hostels, society faces a serious problem. He added that 2026 should not require women to protest for basic safety.
Furthermore, he said women should not need struggles or demonstrations to demand security.
Students Protest After Alleged Campus Incident
Students at LPU in Punjab’s Phagwara claimed that an outsider sexually assaulted a female student. Afterward, students started damaging property inside the campus.
The protesters also blocked National Highway-44 during the demonstration. According to PTI, violence increased again on Sunday evening.
During the clashes, protesting students allegedly pelted police personnel with stones. They also attacked police vehicles, leaving several officers injured.
Police Deploy Force, SIT Begins Investigation
Later, a large police force reached the LPU campus under ADGP M.F. Farooqui’s leadership. Police said the situation came under control.
Meanwhile, authorities formed an SIT to investigate the allegations and events linked to the protest.
