Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh may face fresh legal challenges. Four women wrestlers have filed an appeal against his acquittal order. The wrestlers challenged the magistrate court’s decision in the sexual harassment case. The sessions court may hear the appeal on September 26.
Appeal Also Challenges Vinod Tomar’s Acquittal
The four wrestlers have questioned the acquittal of former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh. Additionally, they have challenged the acquittal order of co-accused Vinod Tomar. The petition claims the magistrate court’s decision does not stand under legal scrutiny.
The wrestlers stated that the court assessed evidence incorrectly and selectively. They also alleged that the order relied on assumptions and speculation.
Petition Raises Questions Over Court Order
According to the appeal, the magistrate court failed to properly apply established legal principles. The wrestlers argued that the decision used outdated views regarding the victim’s behaviour. Meanwhile, Rouse Avenue Court may conduct an important hearing on the appeal. The petition also stated that the order requires reconsideration under legal standards.
The wrestlers have challenged the findings and sought a review of the acquittal decision.
