X Takes Action Against Fake Engagement Network, Creators Face New Rules

X has started legal action against accounts accused of manipulating engagement through fake interactions to earn money from creator monetisation systems.

X Targets Fake Engagement Scheme As Creator Earnings

Social media platform X has started action against people accused of manipulating its creator monetisation system. The company has taken legal steps against two individuals and some unknown persons. X alleges they used multiple accounts to create fake engagement and earn money. The case has reached the High Court of England and Wales.

Six Accounts Allegedly Operated As One Network

According to X, Vivek Kumar Sen, Zamyang Sherpa and others allegedly managed six accounts as a single network. However, they presented those profiles as separate users.

These accounts reportedly shared Bitcoin and Crypto-related content. Additionally, they interacted with each other through likes, replies and reposts.

The company claims some posts looked almost identical. Moreover, different accounts uploaded similar content within seconds or minutes. X alleges this method created fake impressions of genuine user interest and conversations.

How Fake Engagement Allegedly Generated Revenue

The main focus of the case involves X’s Creator Revenue Sharing Programme. Under this system, creators could earn money based on engagement received on their posts.

According to X, the accused allegedly created artificial engagement between multiple accounts. Therefore, the company claims they tried to exploit the system for higher earnings.

For example, one account allegedly posted content first. Later, other accounts shared similar posts and interacted through likes or replies. X claims this activity made posts appear more popular than actual user response.

Consequently, the company alleges the artificial activity increased payments received through the Creator Revenue Sharing Programme.

X Claims £207,384 Revenue Was Generated

According to X’s court filing, the alleged activity generated at least £207,384 in Creator Revenue. The amount equals around ₹2.6 crore.

Furthermore, the company has requested recovery of this money. X is also seeking damages, interest and legal expenses.

However, these claims currently come from X’s side. The case remains under court proceedings, and no final judicial decision has been announced.

Old Creator Programme Replaced With New System

Meanwhile, X has also ended its previous Creator Revenue Sharing Programme. According to X’s official Help Center, new registrations stopped from 7 August 2026.

Later, the company retired the programme on 7 September 2026. Instead, X is introducing a new system called Original Content Rewards.
