Jamui Girl Harassment Case: Rahul Gandhi Questions Bihar Government Over Viral Video

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed anger over the harassment case involving a girl in Jamui, Bihar. On Monday, September 21, he called the viral video disturbing.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi indirectly targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over the issue. He said that some supporters normalise such thinking.

Furthermore, the Congress leader demanded answers from the Bihar government regarding the incident.

Through a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said a video from Jamui was extremely disturbing. He stated that a Class 10 student and girl faced forced harassment on the road.

According to Rahul Gandhi, people stopped them, troubled them, and insulted them. He said the girl kept requesting them to let her go.

However, the accused allegedly continued inappropriate actions and pulled her during the incident.

Rahul Gandhi calls such behaviour patriarchy, demands strict action

Rahul Gandhi questioned who gave such people the right to behave this way. He said such actions do not represent culture.

Instead, he described this mindset as patriarchy. He explained it as the belief that men can control a woman’s body, movement, and choices.

Additionally, Rahul Gandhi said some supporters make such thoughts appear normal by calling control a part of culture.

He demanded identification of every person visible in the video. Moreover, he sought action against accused persons under POCSO.

Rahul Gandhi also questioned why the accused were not behind bars if the incident happened on September 19. He asked Bihar government why girls remain unsafe on state roads after 7 PM.

Police registered FIR and arrested three accused

The Jamui incident involved a viral video showing several youths allegedly harassing a girl. After the video surfaced, police treated the matter seriously.

Consequently, authorities registered an FIR and arrested three people connected with the case.

The incident has raised questions about safety and law enforcement in the area. Rahul Gandhi demanded further action against those involved.
