The dispute over Ujjain’s Shahi Masjid has reached a new legal stage. The Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Indore bench dismissed two petitions against its removal.
The petitions challenged action linked with the widening of Gopal Mandir Marg. The road expansion work continues ahead of Simhastha Mahaparv 2028 preparations.
Justice Sandeep N. Bhatt heard both sides before delivering the decision. However, the detailed written order remains awaited. The order will explain the legal and administrative reasons behind the dismissal.
Road Widening Plans Ahead Of Simhastha 2028
According to the administration, Ujjain expects a large number of devotees during Simhastha 2028. Therefore, authorities are improving major roads and crowded routes.
Gopal Mandir Marg remains one of the city’s important and busy roads. The municipal corporation says the current width cannot handle future traffic pressure.
Meanwhile, officials stated that the widening process follows the city master plan and existing rules.
Petitioners Called The Mosque Over 100 Years Old
The Shahi Masjid Waqf Panchayat Mochiyan and Intizamia Committee filed petitions against the removal process.
The petitioners described the mosque as more than 100 years old and historically significant. They requested protection for the structure.
Furthermore, they presented documents linked with the Scindia royal period. They claimed records from 1925 mentioned the mosque.
Based on these documents, petitioners sought a stay against the removal action for road expansion.
Next Legal Step After High Court Decision
After the single bench rejected both petitions, petitioners are preparing further legal action.
Their lawyer Syed Ashhar Ali Warsi said they will decide the next strategy after studying the detailed order.
According to him, they may approach the High Court’s double bench or the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, local Muslim community members have continued opposing the removal process after the municipal corporation issued notices.
Administration Continues Expansion Process
At present, the complete legal position will become clear after the detailed court order arrives.
However, the administration continues road widening efforts before Simhastha 2028. Authorities aim to improve traffic movement and city arrangements for visitors.
