Iran Leader Link Sparks London Property Sale Drama, ₹460 Crore Luxury Flats Up for Auction

Two London luxury apartments linked to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei are entering the market, with ownership tied to businessman Ali Ansari.

Two luxury London apartments reportedly connected to Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei have entered the sale market. The combined value of these properties stands near 36 million pounds, around ₹460 crore. However, official land records show ownership under Iranian businessman Ali Aliakbar Ansari’s name. Reports from The Telegraph and The Sunday Times state that Ansari purchased these properties through private loans.

Debt Issues Push Luxury Properties Towards Sale

According to reports, Ansari failed to repay loan instalments to private lenders. Therefore, creditors appointed receivers to recover their money. Now, these receivers are overseeing the planned sale of both apartments. One penthouse is being marketed by Sotheby’s and Knight Frank for nearly 12 million pounds, around ₹153 crore. The penthouse sits across the sixth and seventh floors of 3a Palace Green. The property covers around 3,944 square feet and includes five bedrooms.

Additionally, the luxury apartment offers separate staff accommodation. It also features a large rooftop terrace with views of Kensington Palace.

Properties Bought Near Kensington Palace

Land records show Ansari purchased the penthouse in 2016 for around 19 million pounds. He bought the second property in 2014 for 16.75 million pounds. Both apartments are located near the official residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Knight Frank’s sales information states that the property remains under receivership. This means receivers currently manage the property’s supervision and sale process. The company also said it does not hold complete property details.

Therefore, potential buyers must complete their own checks before purchasing.

Sanctions And IRGC Funding Allegations

The UK and US have imposed sanctions on Ali Ansari over alleged financial support for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In October 2025, the British government sanctioned Ansari. The measures included asset freezes, travel restrictions and a ban on becoming a company director. Former UK Middle East minister Hamish Falconer said Ansari played a role in financially supporting IRGC activities.

Meanwhile, US officials accused him of building an overseas property and business network using wealth linked to Iran.

Reports claim Ansari owns a London property portfolio worth over 140 million pounds. Furthermore, authorities may freeze money received from these apartment sales due to sanctions.

However, the final sale price and complete legal process details remain unavailable.
