ICC Rankings Shake-Up: Gill, Bumrah Slip as Robinson Enters Top 5

Latest ICC Test rankings bring major changes as Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah lose places, while Ollie Robinson rises after a match-winning spell.

The International Cricket Council has announced its latest Test rankings update. The rankings witnessed major changes across batting and bowling categories. Indian captain Shubman Gill dropped two positions in Test batting rankings. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah also slipped in the bowling rankings. However, England fast bowler Ollie Robinson made a significant jump. He entered the top five Test bowlers after his impressive performance against Pakistan.

Robinson bowled 27 overs in the second Test against Pakistan. He claimed eight wickets across both innings. As a result, he reached the fifth position among Test bowlers.

Gill and Bumrah lose positions

Jasprit Bumrah dropped one place for the second consecutive week. He moved to the third position in Test bowling rankings. Matt Henry climbed above Bumrah and secured the second spot. Bumrah missed India’s last three Test matches. His absence affected his ranking position. Additionally, Shubman Gill faced a setback after scoring 74 runs in three innings against Sri Lanka. He slipped two places in Test batting rankings.

Gill now occupies the ninth position among Test batters. However, Rishabh Pant remains India’s highest-ranked Test batter at seventh place.

Dinesha makes massive ranking jump

Sonal Dinesha gained 29 positions in the Test batting rankings. He played a key role in taking the second Test away from India. Against India, Dinesha scored 420 runs across four Test innings. He maintained an outstanding average of 140 during the series. Therefore, Dinesha has reached the 25th position in Test batting rankings. Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal moved to the 54th spot.

Padikkal scored two centuries while playing at number three for Team India.

Top Test batters see changes

Harry Brook continues to hold the top position in Test batting rankings. However, Joe Root dropped one place and reached third position.

Steve Smith moved ahead and captured the second spot in the latest rankings.
