Tensions between America and Iran have intensified again following fresh military action. The US attacked Iranian targets on Sunday. Soon after, Tehran responded with strikes against American positions. Iran’s Foreign Ministry then issued a warning against further attacks. The ministry said America would face a tough response after another strike.
Jordan Base Targeted In Retaliation
Iran said America and its allies would carry responsibility for any further escalation. According to the ministry, Tehran targeted an American base in Jordan. Iran linked that strike to the earlier US attack on Larak Island. Tehran said American forces launched that operation from the Jordanian location.
Iran Claims Drone Attack On UAE Base
Iranian forces also claimed another operation against American troops. Al Jazeera reported that Iran’s military targeted US forces at UAE’s Al Minhad Airbase. Iranian news agencies reported that dozens of drones moved towards the facility early morning. The attack reportedly focused on areas containing American troops and helicopters. Tehran linked the operation to deaths among IRGC members and civilians. Iran said those deaths followed America’s Larak Island attack.
IRGC Claims MQ-9 Reaper Was Downed
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also announced another claim. The IRGC said its forces brought down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone. Iranian agencies Fars and Mehr cited an IRGC statement about the incident. According to that statement, Iranian air defences intercepted the long-range drone above Strait of Hormuz. The aircraft then fell into the Gulf, according to Iranian claims.
Why Did America Strike Larak Island?
Washington said Iran’s Revolutionary Guard planned to place naval mines inside Strait of Hormuz. Therefore, American forces targeted two rocket launchers to prevent that activity. America described the operation as limited and precise. Washington said the action aimed to protect ships and civilians using the waterway. Meanwhile, Iranian agency Tasnim reported two deaths and two injuries from the strike.
Trump Says Iran Lost Regional Support
US President Donald Trump also reacted to Iran’s attacks. He said Tehran targeted countries that remained almost neutral during the conflict. Trump named Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait. According to him, those nations felt shocked by the attacks. He said Iran had not expected such a response from these countries. Trump added that Tehran lost their support after targeting them.
