Lovlina Spots Missing Northeast on Restaurant Menu
The incident occurred when Lovlina visited a Glasgow restaurant with the Indian boxing team. The athletes had gathered for dinner after their impressive Commonwealth Games performance. During the celebration, Lovlina noticed an India map printed on the restaurant’s menu. However, the displayed version did not include the country’s northeastern region.
Lovlina immediately raised the issue with the restaurant management. She explained that the displayed India map excluded the Northeast. Moreover, she said the omission deeply hurt her as someone belonging to that region.
‘Our Northeast Is Missing From India’s Map’
Lovlina asked the restaurant management not to misunderstand her concern. However, she explained that the incorrect representation had left her upset. She also pointed towards another map displayed outside the restaurant.
Lovlina said, “Please do not misunderstand this, but it made me slightly upset.” She added, “Our Northeast is missing from India’s map.” Furthermore, she noted that the map displayed outside also excluded the northeastern region. “Being from the Northeast, this hurts us deeply,” she said.
Restaurant Apologises After Issue Goes Viral
Following Lovlina’s objection, the matter quickly gained attention across social media. Subsequently, Mr Singh’s India released a statement addressing the incorrect map and offered a clear apology.
The restaurant said it would replace the logo containing the inaccurate map. Moreover, management promised to use the correct representation of India. The restaurant also described hosting the successful Indian Commonwealth Games team as an honour.
Indian Mission in Glasgow Raises Matter With Restaurant
After the controversy surfaced, the Indian mission in Glasgow also took note of the matter. Subsequently, officials raised the issue directly with the concerned restaurant.
