Major Change in Commercial LPG Supply Rules in Delhi: What You Need to Know

Delhi government has increased commercial LPG supply by 50%, with allocation based on average consumption.

Major Policy Change Benefits Businesses

The Delhi government has introduced a major change in the commercial LPG distribution system to benefit businesses.

Increased LPG Supply for Restaurants

Recently, commercial LPG supply faced shortages, creating difficulties for kitchens. The Delhi government responded by raising supply.

Now, commercial LPG supply will increase from 20% to 50% based on average consumption data for the last three months.

4,500 Cylinders Per Day

The supply will now see 4,500 cylinders delivered daily instead of just 1,800. This move aims to address growing demand.

Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will manage the supply.

Allocation Based on Previous Consumption

Supply will be distributed based on the previous three months’ average consumption, ensuring fair distribution across sectors.

No More Cancellations for Hotels and Dhabas

Restaurants and dhabas no longer need to cancel bookings due to LPG shortages. The new allocation system will prevent such disruptions.

Sector-Wise Distribution

The supply has been divided into different sectors based on their needs:

  • Hotels, restaurants, and dhabas get 75% of the supply.
  • Schools and hospitals are allocated 5% each.
  • Caterers, sports academies, and other services share 5% each.
  • Small industries like pharma and packaging receive 1% of the supply.

Special Provisions for Migrant Laborers

Migrant laborers and essential services also get priority under the new guidelines. The government has implemented additional provisions to support them.

  • Migrant laborers will receive 180 free trade cylinders daily, each weighing 5 kg.
  • Consumers will need to submit written requests on official letterheads to receive cylinders.

PNG Connection Access

People waiting for PNG connections will face no difficulties in receiving their LPG cylinders under the new rules.

Government Ensures Control of Supply

The government has ensured full control over the LPG supply and urged people to ignore any rumors about shortages.
