West Bengal’s VVIP Bhawanipur seat has witnessed major commotion during counting. Moreover, officials stopped the announcement after 13 rounds. Inside the counting centre, Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari remain present. Both leaders entered more than one hour ago. However, counting has not resumed after the 13th round.
BJP And Other Agents Trade Serious Allegations
BJP alleged that Mamata Banerjee entered the counting centre with a mobile phone. Also, the party claimed she did not carry an election card. Meanwhile, agents from other parties made another charge. They alleged that BJP agents forced them out of the centre. Additionally, Mamata also said officials removed many of her agents from the counting centre.
Mamata Leads After 13 Rounds In Bhawanipur
According to the Election Commission website, Bhawanipur has completed 13 counting rounds. However, BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari currently trails from this seat. Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari contest directly here. Therefore, every delayed update has increased political suspense.
As per the latest update, Mamata Banerjee leads by 5,349 votes after 13 rounds. Bhawanipur will see 20 counting rounds in total. Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari stands second with 41,377 votes. Mamata Banerjee has received 46,726 votes so far. After this stage, officials stopped the counting announcement. Even after more than one hour, counting has not restarted.
Suvendu Also Leads In Nandigram Contest
Mamata Banerjee contests only from Bhawanipur this time. However, Suvendu Adhikari contests from two seats, Bhawanipur and Nandigram. In Nandigram, Suvendu leads by more than 3,100 votes after 16 counting rounds. There, he faces TMC candidate Pavitra Kar. Pavitra Kar had joined TMC after leaving BJP just before the election.
Trends Point To Mamata Exit After 15 Years
Bengal’s 2026 mandate clearly signals Mamata Banerjee’s exit from power after 15 years. According to latest trends, BJP appears close to winning nearly 200 seats. The Assembly has 293 members. Meanwhile, TMC’s number has reached around 85-90 seats. Therefore, Bengal’s political direction looks sharply changed.
BJP Wins Six Seats In Bengal
According to Election Commission data, BJP has already won Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Monteswar, Bhatar, Medinipur, and Asansol South. Bharat Kumar Chhetri won Kalimpong by 21,464 votes. Saikat Panja won Monteswar in East Bardhaman district by 14,798 votes. In the same district, Karfa Soumen won Bhatar by 6,528 votes.
Additionally, Angimitra Paul won Asansol South by 40,839 votes. Shankar Kumar Guchhait won Medinipur by 38,747 votes. Also, Noman Rai won Darjeeling by 6,057 votes. Thus, BJP has already secured important wins while Bhawanipur remains tense.
