The Delhi High Court ordered restoration of the Cockroach Janta Party’s X account. Meanwhile, the court issued the decision on a petition filed by Abhijeet Dipke.
Earlier, authorities blocked the account due to concerns around NEET examination-related posts. Consequently, the government feared confusion among students and parents.
Court Removes Block After NEET Exam Ends
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta represented the central government during the hearing. He explained that officials blocked the account during the NEET period.
Accordingly, the government believed posts could create confusion and panic among candidates and guardians. However, the court noted that the examination period had already ended.
Therefore, judges said the earlier government concern no longer remained valid. Subsequently, the court accepted the petition and directed X account restoration.
Court Questions Restrictions On Expression Rights
The Delhi High Court cancelled the blocking order against the CJP X account. Additionally, the court stated that restrictions on freedom of expression require legal examination.
Furthermore, judges highlighted the importance of reviewing such limitations under legal standards.
CJP Gains Massive Social Media Following
The Cockroach Janta Party gained attention after discussions around the term “Cockroach” following CJI Suryakant’s statement. Later, the group created the Cockroach Janta Party identity.
Within a short period, CJP collected millions of followers across social platforms. Additionally, its Instagram account reached 1.35 crore followers within five days of creation.
Currently, the Instagram account has 2 crore 19 lakh followers. Consequently, the platform’s popularity became larger than BJP and Congress accounts, according to the reference.
