Margaret MacLeod welcomed India’s decision to join Pax Silica. She spoke during the Global AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. In an exclusive interview, she praised the longstanding India-US partnership. Moreover, she described the move as timely and strategic. “We are delighted that India has decided to become a member,” MacLeod said. She emphasized the growing importance of artificial intelligence globally.
AI Revolution Demands Trusted Partnerships
MacLeod highlighted the rapid AI revolution shaping economies. Therefore, she stressed collaboration among like-minded nations. “There should not be a case where only one country controls supply,” she said. Instead, she urged shared responsibility and cooperation.
“We want to work with countries like India,” she added. Consequently, she said the world could reap AI’s benefits collectively. She explained that Pax Silica secures the full AI stack. This includes critical minerals, semiconductors, LLMs, and energy security.
India as a Key Strategic Partner
MacLeod called India a crucial US partner. Furthermore, she listed emerging and strategic technologies as cooperation areas. She also mentioned military and critical technologies. Therefore, she described the relationship as comprehensive and forward-looking.

Quoting Ambassador Sergio Gor, she said, “There is infinite potential in the partnership.” Thus, she reaffirmed strong bilateral confidence. India signed the Pax Silica Declaration on Friday. The ceremony took place on the summit’s sidelines. Senior officials attended the signing event. US Ambassador Sergio Gor and Jacob Helberg were present. Michael Kratsios and Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also participated. Consequently, the declaration reflected high-level commitment. Pax Silica remains the US State Department’s flagship initiative. It focuses on AI and supply chain security.
Economic Security and National Security
Helberg emphasized that economic security translates into national security. Moreover, he warned against coercion undermining prosperity. Ambassador Gor welcomed India’s entry enthusiastically. He said the partnership supports freedom and innovation. He stressed that free societies must lead technological advancement. Therefore, Pax Silica promotes trusted collaboration over surveillance models.
India’s participation follows engagement in the Critical Minerals Ministerial. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar represented India earlier this month. Consequently, the partnership expands beyond AI infrastructure. It strengthens cooperation in minerals and supply chains.
MacLeod concluded with optimism about future collaboration. She said both nations look toward a prosperous and secure future. As AI reshapes global economies, trusted alliances gain significance. Therefore, Pax Silica marks another milestone in India-US ties.
